Issues
Mr. Bove will make four subjects cornerstones of his campaign message.
Recidivism — As Sheriff, Mr. Bove will enhance current programs, as well as develop new ones to decrease recidivism. An inmate’s incarceration creates an opportunity to educate and treat inmates, making it less likely they will re-offend.
Community Service Program — Mr. Bove is credited with the creation of the “Community Service Program” that helps put inmates on a path to rehabilitation. The program provides supervised work environments in towns that have much-needed, but un-funded projects such as landscaping, painting and light construction. As Sheriff, he will continue to improve this program, teaching inmates valuable skills, while at the same time saving local municipalities hundreds of thousands of dollars on projects they likely would not be able to complete.
Juvenile Diversion Programs — Our children are the future of our community. Educating “at-risk” kids before they commit a crime will be a high priority, less crime means less inmates…and less inmates mean a safer community and a reduced financial burden of Massachusetts taxpayers.
Woman’s Issues — As Sheriff, Mr. Bove will make domestic violence awareness, restraining order violation and sexual assault education a top priority. As Sheriff, he will implement a new program that all inmates will be required to complete prior to their release, so they understand the consequences they face should they commit any of these crimes after their release.
