Thank you for visiting the homepage for my campaign to become the next Sheriff of Worcester County. On Thursday, February the fourth, with a group of my supporters, I announced my candidacy on the town hall steps in Holden. Having moved to Holden years earlier because I believed it was a safe community in which to raise a family, I wanted this location to serve as a symbol as to why I want to become the next Sheriff. I believe that every citizen of Worcester County should have that same feeling about their hometowns. When most people think about a Jail and House of Correction, their thoughts are often filled with images that they see on television or in the movies. which reach far beyond the walls and fences of the Jail itself. Whether it’s ensuring that inmates are offered productive and enriching rehabilitation programs to reduce the likelihood that they will re-offend, saving communities tens of thousands of dollars through community service programs or becoming more involved in the community itself, I know that with my 27 years of experience in corrections, that I am the most qualified candidate for Sheriff.
During my 27 year career in corrections, the Worcester County Jail and House of Correction has taken tremendous strides, accomplished numerous goals and initiated countless beneficial programs for convicted inmates and Worcester County residents alike. As the next Sheriff of Worcester County, not only will I be prepared to successfully continue the valuable programs and services already in place, but I will be prepared to meet the ever changing challenges that will arise in the coming years. As the face of corrections changes, I promise that I will work tirelessly to make the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office a leader in the field, an example for other facilities to model themselves after.
As Sheriff, I will:
- Lead based on professional correctional institution experience.
- Vow to keep politics out of the Sheriff’s office.
- Develop specific plans and programs to cut recidivism, thus saving taxpayer’s money.
- Enhance the Community Service Program I helped develop.
- Educate inmates ready for release on domestic violence awareness, restraining order violation and sexual assaults to ensure women in Worcester County continue to be safe.
- Implement Juvenile Diversion Programs to keep at-risk kids out of jail and educate parents on effective ways to cope with troubled children.
- Build upon the successful Senior Citizen “Safety First” initiative. As my supporters stood with me on that cold February afternoon on the town hall steps in Holden, I respectfully ask that you do the same in my campaign to become the next Sheriff of Worcester County.
Running a major correctional facility is serious business, not a place for on the job training. Throughout my 27-year professional career, I have served under 3 Sheriffs and held numerous field and management positions - a combination of skills no other candidate can bring to this position. As Sheriff I’ll draw on my professional experience to run the office efficiently and utilize my field expertise to make public safety the highest priority.
